AFTER HOURS
Tea
Children are able to stay after school on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Children must be collected by 5.30pm. Children staying participate in a wide range of games, arts and crafts and, where appropriate, will be supervised completing their homework. Under this arrangement children will be provided with a light meal.
Parents can either register their child/children for tea in advance with the school office or in the morning of the day they are staying in the following ways:
- by giving a note to the member of staff on morning car park duty
- by telephoning the school office
- or by adding your child's name to the 'tea list' on the notice board in the Avenue if you have walked to school.
Fees for tea are added to the following term's bill.
After School Clubs
Notes will be sent home informing you of the clubs on offer which may vary from term to term. They are booked on a first come basis so early registration is encouraged to ensure a place. You will able to register for all extra classes and clubs at the start of term. We currently offer chess, drama, karate, art and sports.
Homework
As well as giving parents/guardians the opportunity to share in the activities, which their child/children cover in school, we aim to develop good study skills, which become increasingly important as the child moves on to senior school. We hope that you will help your child to adopt good homework discipline by setting aside an allocated time and checking over their work. If your child has problems understanding the work set, the Form Teacher should be notified. Doing your child's homework for them does not help them or us. Homework offers an opportunity for reinforcing and practising the skills covered in class.
Homework club is available, after school, from Monday to Thursday, 4.00-5.00 pm.
Parents' Association
Hurlingham Parents' Association was set up to aid communication and to deal with non-educational matters. The Parents' Association is also of great help to the school in its success in raising extra funds, which are used to enhance various aspects of school life. It is also instrumental in organising social events, which further promote unity within the school and give parents a welcome opportunity to socialise.
