CURRICULUM

Drama

We integrate a very wide range of drama-based techniques (such as role-playing, hot-seating and thought-shadowing) into our lessons across the curriculum: we believe that empathising with others is a vital higher-order thinking skill and, ultimately, will help the children in our charge to have understanding of, and respect for, all other members of their community.

We aim to develop pupils’ all-round self-confidence and we know that the myriad of public-speaking opportunities that we make available to our boys and girls facilitates this efficiently and effectively. All classes perform in at least one assembly per year to the rest of the school and, in addition to this, there are plays, revues, concerts, shows, entertainments and performances... the list seems endless!

Recent school productions have included...

Bugsy Malone
The Wizard of Oz
Cinders (ABBA does Cinderella!)
A Holiday... and a Half!
The Adventure of Magic Grandad
The Bold Saint George
Doctor Who through time... Isaac Newton, World War II, Ancient Egypt, Chembakolli
The Lost Christmas Sparkle
Where in the World is Father Christmas?
