EARLY YEARS

Early Years

Children begin their life at Hurlingham in our special Early Years Unit which, although contained within the school building, is a separate area allowing children to feel part of the whole school but not overwhelmed by it.

The Early Years Unit has 3 parallel classrooms (children are divided into 3 forms according to their age) all of which have direct access onto the school playground thus enabling the teaching of the curriculum to extend to the outside. There is also a cozy reception area which provides space for all 3 forms to join together for group activities, constant access to computers and a quiet place for reading together. The ballet and drama studio provides a further extension to this space and is home to a variety of physical activities as well as drama and music.

Hurlingham is registered with Wandsworth Council for the Nursery Education Grant. All children are eligible for this until they are 5 years old.

Lunch is served in the Garden Room at a slightly earlier time than for the rest of the school.
