Life in the Hurlingham Nursery is great fun and no two days are ever the same!
The nursery classes are accommodated in a large and airy suite of rooms where the children have a wonderful choice of activities. Our Early Years team consists of highly qualified and well-trained practitioners, all of whom are committed to ensuring that the children have the best possible start to their education.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for children aged 2 to 5. Children learn through a combination of teacher-initiated and child-led activities and, of course, play! We aim to provide a stimulating and caring environment where children feel secure and valued, which makes the transition from home to school as easy as possible.
We fully appreciate the appeal and benefits of outdoor education in the natural world, whilst simultaneously understanding parents’ desire to ensure the academic readiness for school of their four year old. From September 2018, therefore, we will be offering the option of a 20:80 split for our children rising four, enabling one day per week in a Forest School setting and up to another four days each week in our newly refurbished nursery with its excellent modern facilities, including a dedicated exercise and music studio.
Progression from the Nursery to Reception is seamless. The children are happy and confident to move up in the school, as they already know the environment and the teachers.
