Admissions

Thank you for considering Hurlingham School for your child's education journey.

We appreciate the significant decision of choosing the right school to invest in your son or daughter’s education.

Hurlingham School is a co-educational, non-selective school and is committed to equal treatment for all and it is our desire to create a diverse and inclusive learning environment.
Our usual entry point is in September- the start of the Autumn Term for those joining us in Reception, although we have pupils joining at various times throughout the year in other cohorts (these are ‘Occasional Places’).

Reception Entry

Children start Reception, the first year of school, in the September (Autumn Term) following their fourth birthday. This is a very exciting time for families and we take pride in supporting you and your child through the journey to starting “big school”.

There is no assessment for entry into Reception as children’s stages of development are so varied, that we believe this is an unfair criteria to place on admission.

Places are offered in order of registration and parents may register with us at any time. Priority is given to siblings of current Prep pupils and those joining from our Nursery are guaranteed a place in Reception (subject to the criteria detailed in section 5 or the School’s Admissions Policy).
Our Nursery is hugely popular and we encourage parents to secure their places well ahead of time (entry to Nursery is following your child’s second birthday).

Occasional Places Entry

Applications for places in other year groups are welcome at any point and subject to places available, as well as a taster visit or video call with our Head of Lower or Upper Schools. We also ask for a report from their current school at the time of registration.
We have many enquiries from families relocating from overseas and can adapt this process to accommodate these families in their application.

Step 1: Getting to know us

We know that a personal visit is the best way to inform your decision and you will get a real feeling of the warm and nurturing environment created by our team of excellent educational practitioners. You are welcome to book a visit online.

Our Individual Family Tours are in very high demand and so reserved for those families looking at Reception entry in September 2027 or 2028 or Occasional Places in other year groups.

Our Open Mornings, held termly, are a great opportunity to see the school at its busiest during a school day and hear talks from Mr Gould and our Senior Leaders.

Step 2: Registration

You can register your child via this Online Registration Form and pay the non-refundable Registration Fee. For Reception entry, this will ensure that your child is placed on our admissions list for offers when these are sent in the Summer one year before.

Places at the Nursery are offered in order of registration, so the earlier this is done the more chance you have of being offered a place.
For Occasional Places, the Admissions Registrar will be able to advise on the likelihood of spaces available and the process.

Step 3: Offer, Acceptance & Joining Us

You will receive an Offer via our online admissions portal. You will accept by electronically signing the contract of Acceptance and paying the acceptance fee.

The deposit is due one term before your child’s start with us (usually before the start of Summer Term- April). This amount is combined with your acceptance fee to form the deposit retained by the School until your child leaves.

At which point it will be returned to you once all outstanding fees and charges have been met and provided a term’s written notice of intention to withdraw has been received by the Head, prior to the first day of the preceding term.
