Moving beyond the classroom, our trips and outings, thoughtfully planned to deliver curriculum but also personal growth and engagement, as well as our clubs provision make an important part of our creation of a “whole”, well-rounded individual.
Educational Trips
At Hurlingham, our trips are much more than a change of scenery – they are a powerful extension of our pastoral care and Enrichment philosophy. Rooted in our belief that learning happens best when children feel confident, curious, and connected, our trips provide purposeful opportunities for growth, independence, and adventure.
From Reception onwards, every year group enjoys regular visits to places of cultural, historical or environmental interest. These day trips are carefully chosen to deepen classroom learning and expand each child’s sense of the world around them.
In Years 3 to 6, residential trips become a key part of the journey. These experiences are not only memorable and exciting – they also build resilience, teamwork, and self-belief.
In Year 3, pupils spend two nights away at an outdoor centre, often their first time away from home. It’s a gentle but powerful introduction to independence. |
Year 4 continues the adventure with two nights of team challenges, sports, and confidence-building activities in the Surrey countryside. |
In Year 5, we weave academic rigour into the experience, heading to Yorkshire and County Durham for a week of immersive learning, exploring the humanities, the outdoors and teambuilding. |
Year 6 culminates their time at Hurlingham with a week in rural France – combining cultural discovery with the thrill of travelling abroad, before they take their next steps into secondary education. |

Extra-Curricular Clubs
At Hurlingham, learning doesn’t end when the school bell rings. Our vibrant extra-curricular programme is a cornerstone of our holistic approach – a space where children can explore their interests, uncover new talents, and develop life-long skills beyond the classroom.
Clubs are not just a fun diversion; they are rich with opportunity. They promote critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and emotional intelligence – all values that underpin both our Enrichment curriculum and our pastoral care ethos. Whether learning a new sport, joining a choir, coding, acting, fencing or cooking, children build confidence, discover passions, and feel a deep sense of belonging.
Our programme runs across all year groups and changes termly to offer fresh experiences. We work with a mix of expert external providers and our own passionate staff to deliver high-quality, engaging, and inclusive opportunities.
These are the moments where children learn to take risks, celebrate effort over outcome, and connect with peers in new ways – enriching not just their school day, but who they are becoming.
