In preparation of joining us, we would like to share information about your experience and what you may need such as uniform and the school day!
The School Day
| Start of the day |
| School opens at 8.15am for Upper School and 8.30am for Lower School. You will be notified of the time that each year group is expected to arrive at school prior to the commencement of the academic year. Younger siblings should be dropped off at the same time as the older child. |
| Assemblies |
| Assemblies are led by our Head, Mr Gould or our Teachers and on Fridays throughout the Spring and Summer terms, each class takes a turn giving a presentation to school where parents are invited to attend. Assemblies cover religious topics, current affairs, school rules and items of general interest. |
| Break Time |
| All children have a mid-morning break. Children of all ages are encouraged to bring in a healthy snack to eat during break time and a recommended list is provided. Sweets, crisps, canned or bottled drinks are not permitted and our ‘no nuts’ policy must be observed. All pupils go outside for supervised play in the playground except during very wet weather. |
| Lunch |
| Our specialist caterers, Lexington Catering, offer a menu to cater for all dietary requirements that is balanced, nutritional and appealing. A varied menu is planned at the beginning of each term. All produce is of a high quality, from a reliable source and is prepared on site in the school kitchen. You are able to note any allergies or dietary needs in your new starter forms and should inform the school office of any changes. |
| End of the School Day |
| Parents collect their child/children from school at staggered times by year group to avoid congestion. You will be notified of your child's timing at the start of the academic year and any changes to your family's pick up arrangements are sent to the office and class teacher. |
School Uniform
One of the most distinctive and recognisable elements of Hurlingham’s identity is our uniform, with its smart pale blue blazers, caps, and berets. These iconic pieces reflect the pride we take in our presentation and should be worn to and from school each day to uphold the traditionally smart appearance of our pupils.
School uniform is compulsory for all pupils and substitutes cannot be accepted. We have two suppliers; Perry Uniform and Serious Stuff from whom uniform can be purchased. Parents and staff are asked to ensure that pupils are correctly dressed and pupils are encouraged to take pride in their appearance.
The full uniform list is provided to all new starters ahead of their joining date and then is available on the Parent Portal for current families.
Perry Uniform Online
The easiest way to size your uniform is by using Perry’s online sizing utility. This is particularly helpful as different suppliers of individual items may use different sizing specifications. With a secure password protected registration facility, you can enter your child’s measurements and place a ‘Quick Order’. From these measurements, they will assess the right size for your child.

Second-hand uniform sales are held once a term. Good quality items only are accepted for sale. These sales are organised and run by the PTA.
Trips & Residentials
Everything that we do at Hurlingham is planned and delivered in the knowledge that it will help children become active, purposeful citizens in their future lives.
Therefore it is imperative that we broaden pupils’ horizons in the most effective way possible. Every year group’s explorations include day trips away to places of interest, but in Years 3-6 we have residential trips as well.
For Years 3 and 4, our longer trips are all about being challenged and proving to ourselves that we can do things that we wouldn’t have thought possible. Having a fun adventure is the order of the day, whether it be spending one-night away at an outward-bound centre near St Albans in Year 3, or two nights in a multi-sport complex in the Surrey countryside in Year 4.
During Years 5 and 6, however, things become a little more academic and both year groups spend a week away from home. In Year 5, we focus on History and Geography with activities in Yorkshire and County Durham, whilst Year 6 leave the United Kingdom behind and spend a week in rural France.
