Sports at Hurlingham

At Hurlingham, we believe in delivering sport in a co-educational setting for as long as possible in order to give every child the opportunity to experience as many different sports as possible.

Throughout Year 3, our pupils experience a six week block of each of our specialist sports, which always culminates in a festival with other schools. From Year 4 upwards, the pupils will then be able to specialise in their chosen sports where they will be given the opportunity to participate regularly in fixtures against other schools.

We are passionate about instilling a life-long love of sport in all of our pupils and make sure that we offer an exciting breadth of sports, from our main team sports:

  • Netball
  • Football
  • Hockey
  • Rugby and
  • Cricket,

to individual sports like gymnastics and athletics

We also run an annual ‘Sports Extension Week’ where pupils are given the opportunity to try a range of alternative sports, ranging from street dance to padel. Our very popular ‘Sports Leadership’ initiative also gives high achieving pupils the opportunity to develop their own leadership skills through sport.

We have a specialist team of professional Sports Teachers who teach specialist lessons from Reception class upward. Starting with the development of gross and fine motor skills, through to the extensive participation in matches and tournaments in all the major sports outlined above. Our excellent facilities include Wandsworth Park, Rocks Lane and Barn Elms Sports Trust.

In addition to our curricular offerings, we run an extensive list of sports as part of Hurlingham-Extra, where pupils can sign up to additional clubs in activities such as ballet, karate and many more.
