Early Years Funding

All pupils who are below the age of 5 on the first day of any term, are entitled to funding for 15 hours of free childcare at a nationally determined rate. We are able to claim this funding on behalf of parents and it will be automatically reflected in the fee invoice, provided the parent has completed and signed a declaration form, which the school will provide.

Some pupils may be eligible for an additional 15 hours of weekly funding. You can check whether you qualify for this on the Government website www.childcarechoices.gov.uk.

Childcare vouchers and tax-free childcare

Childcare vouchers and tax-free childcare are government-sponsored schemes which allow parents to save tax on income used to pay for childcare for their own children up to the age of 11.
Hurlingham can only accept payment using childcare vouchers and tax-free childcare for the following

– school fees if their child is under the age of 5 on the first day of term to which the fees relate;
– extra-curricular activities that take place before or after school (this excludes karate, ballet and chess, which take place at lunchtime and are therefore considered part of the school day); and
– holiday clubs.

We cannot accept payment by childcare voucher or tax-free childcare for anything else including school trips.

For parents to be able to access childcare vouchers, they need to have joined a scheme prior to 5th October 2018. From that date, tax-free childcare was introduced in place of childcare vouchers and is still open to new parents. Details about the tax-free childcare scheme can be found here, and you can check your eligibility and learn about the application process here.
