Other Charges
Ballet & karate
We encourage all pupils to participate in either ballet or karate lessons, due to the benefits these activities bring in terms of balance, flexibility, health and discipline. The lessons take place once a week during lunch break and the charge per term is £180 (including VAT), which is added to the fee invoice. Once enrolled for ballet or karate, the assumption is that your child continues with them from term to term, unless due notice is given.
For Reception pupils, participation in ballet and karate is compulsory and forms part of the curriculum. The cost of these lessons is still invoiced separately from core fees for Reception pupils but at a reduced rate of £120 (including VAT) per term.
Other extra-curricular activities
As well as ballet and karate, we offer a broad range of clubs that pupils can participate in before, during and after the school day. Parents enrol and pay for these clubs on a term-by-term basis through our online clubs management platform. Details of our current extra-curricular offer can be found by clicking here.
Wrap-around care & holiday clubs
Hurlingham provides parents with a significant level of childcare support through morning supervision and our post-school Tea Club, which includes a hot meal. We also operate a number of holiday clubs throughout the year. All of these activities are booked through our online clubs management platform and further details about them can be found by clicking here.
Music lessons
Individual instrumental music lessons can be arranged through the school and take place during the school day. The cost of these lessons are paid by parents directly to our self-employed, peripatetic music teachers. Their charges, which are reviewed each calendar year are currently £19.40 for a 20 minute lesson and £28.90 for a 30 minute lesson.
School bus
Hurlingham operates a bus service that brings children, who live in Southfields and Fulham, to and from school. The fees for this, which are not subject to VAT, are added to the termly fee invoice. The current cost is laid out in the table below.
Termly charge £ | |
One morning or one afternoon | 85 |
All mornings or all afternoons | 400 |
All mornings and all afternoons | 625 |
Pupils’ Absence Insurance
Hurlingham subscribes to a Pupils’ Absence Insurance scheme, which allows parents to reclaim school fees in the event of their child being absent from school for four or more consecutive days due to illness, accident or contact with an infectious disease.
The cost of this is currently 0.73% of school fees, so £57.99 for Lower School pupils and £60.09 for Upper School pupils, and is charged through the termly fee invoice.
This insurance is not compulsory, but we strongly encourage parents to subscribe to it, as we are not able to waive fees in the event of pupils being absent from school, even when this results in them missing a significant period of their schooling.
